Neverwinter's New Age
A century has passed since the Spellplague was unleashed. And fewer than three decades ago, the city of Neverwinter was touched by a new cataclysm, major earthquakes triggered by the eruption of Mount Hotenow.
Reduced to ruins, Neverwinter rises from the ashes to reclaim its title as the Jewel of the North. The reclamation began under Lord Neverember, but it was ultimately completed by another member of the Waterdeep noblity, Malcolm Thann.
Once Atlavast, the priest of Oghma in the Temple of Knowledge, proclaimed Malcolm Thann a legitimate heir to the throne of Neverwinter, the dominoes began to fall one by one. Through brute force, sheer will, and careful negotiations and alliance-making, Malcolm Thann and his fellow adventures have managed to placate all areas of the shattered city. The Protector’s Enclave was largely pacified by Lord Neveremeber. The Blacklake District was solidified by working with the Ashamadai, the Sons of Alagondar, and the Harpers. The River District fell to Malcolm’s control via a shrewd alliance with Msunga and her band of orcs. The power of Aboleth Sovereignty was decimated by destroying the Hex Locus at Helm’s Hold, and finally by using an ancient dwarf ritual to drain the lake at the bottom of the Chasm. Finally, the heroes triumphantly entered Castle Never, allied themselves with the ghost ancestors of the Algogondars, drove the undead forces of Valindra Shadowmantle from the castle, and seized the Crown of Neverwinter.
Yet even though the city is unified under its new lord, hidden forces like Thay and Netheril pursue their own goals and vendettas behind the scenes in the Shadowfell….any one of which could tear the city apart.
